You know that one thing we ALL crave in life…. happiness. 

But how do you wake up feeling fulfilled and HAPPY on a daily basis?

What if I were to tell you…. happiness is a choice? No matter what happens to you in any given day, YOU have the choice in how you respond to it. With that being said, there are a few things you can do everyday to ensure you are living a happy and full-filling life.

1. Absorb Yourself in Motivation

The first habit that can lead to a happier life is listening to motivation. The absolute best time to absorb yourself in positive motivation is first thing in the morning. Why? It will help kickstart your day on a positive note.

Every way you turn, the world is filled with negativity. 

That is why it is crucial to fill yourself with positivity daily SIMPLY BECAUSE of how much we are bombarded with negativity every place we look. 

If you’ve listened to motivation in the past, this will be nothing new to you. But if you are new to motivation, a great place to start is Youtube. Use the search bar and type in any type of motivation you are looking for.

Here are a few examples:

3. Happiness Motivation 

The leaders in this space are all different and have different approaches and techniques. Try out a few to start, you never know who will connect with you best.  

2. Create a Clear End Goal for the Day

So many people wake up in the morning without a clear intention for the day. When they begin wasting time, they don’t realize how many things could’ve been accomplished because they never planned to have anything accomplished.

An individual who wakes up with a clear intention for the day has a place to go and something to strive for. 

What priorities need to take place before this day is over? 

That is another great question to ask yourself when you are planning your day for success. There’s always a few priorities that are an absolute must to finish before the day turns to night. It’s a good idea to get these down on paper and check them off as you complete each task. 

The day will seem less stressful and more in “your control” when you know what you want and you have a plan to accomplish it.

3. Wake up giving GRATITUDE 

When you wake up in the morning, think about all the things you are grateful for. 

Is the sun shining? 

Are you grateful for your spouse that’s across from you? 

Think about what you are grateful for right now. That is a great way to get more of what you do want.

When someone focuses on all the good they have in their life, they automatically begin attracting more good to them just like a magnet. They are focused on the good and therefore they are in a state of receiving more of it. 

Make a small note every morning writing down these things you are grateful for. It might surprise you how much this will improve your overall happiness over time.

4. Perform Breathing Exercises 

Breathing exercises can be a great way for overall health and wellbeing as well as focus, energy etc. The breathing exercise we have below is called the Pranayama, an ayurvedic breathing technique practiced in yoga. 

This breathing exercise is performed for 10 minutes of 2 8-4 breathing. 

Ready to begin? Here we go..

1. Sit in a comfortable upright position with your back straight, eyes closed.
2. Bring your attention to the rise and fall of your natural breath for a few moments.
3. Inhale through the nose for 2 counts, imagining your lungs filling from bottom to top.
4. Hold the breath for 8 counts.
5. Exhale through the nose for 4 counts, imagining your lungs slowly emptying from the top, middle and bottom. Continue for 8-10 minutes.

If you want to change your overall mood in the morning, breathing exercises are a simple and effective way to begin daily.

5.Wake up with your running shoes by the bed 

Of course working out has to be on the list…

Do you know how much better you feel after you finish a workout?

Unless you are adamant about working out in the evenings, I find AM workouts being an outstanding mood boost. There is nothing better than the feeling of accomplishing something difficult and still having your whole day to conquer.

If you can, try waking up an hour or two earlier than you do now and get your body moving first thing! Soon you will see your body craving this exercise in the morning.  

Why do they say “put your running shoes by the bed?”

By doing so, you are giving yourself mental habit cues that will persuade you to do keep at that specific habit. This not only works for working out, but also things like leaving your book out and visible so that you remember to read because that is a goal you have.
